National Education Technology Plan 2010 Released!

The National Education Technology Plan has been released and a blog has been set up for teacher feedback. There are some interesting models - digital natives (students) collaborate with digital immigrants (teachers) in order to utilize all participants' expertise.  I for one, think this will be effective and will begin to move classrooms to a new co-construction model.  The first draft of this document as well as an opportunity to comment is available at: ED.gov U. S. Department of Education.

Take some time and give this a quick read.  I believe this document will provide a focus and shape our schools for some time to come.

End of the Year Data Collection!

This past week, I finalized the data collection for the year.  As you will recall the observations will be based on the rubric the committee and I created.

The cohort of teachers observed and interviewed have all participated in literacy training.

A special thank you goes to all of the teaches who allowed me to visit their schools.

The report will be published tomorrow.

Maine students complete virtual 50-state field trip
A class of Maine third-graders wrapped up a months-long online project that had them connecting with students and teachers through virtual field trips to classrooms in all 50 states. Teacher Cherrie MacInnes began using videoconferencing to help students stay in touch with a former classmate, but she soon decided to expand the project to other schools. "It really demonstrates how we can use technology to expand our social studies curriculum and our technology curriculum," the superintendent of schools said.
