How to Start and Build an Inclusive Computer Science Program

In high school computer science classrooms, girls and ethnic minorities are vastly underrepresented. One district in the San Diego area is trying to find a more inclusive path by offering a different kind of computer science class. Art Lopez was one of the first teachers in the country to pilot the new AP Computer Science Principles course and he has worked with district leaders to develop partnerships, train faculty, and recruit students. "We went from teaching zero CS courses five years ago to 42 CS courses throughout our district this year," said Lopez. Learn More
